Over the past few weeks, the ratings for “Jon and Kate Plus Eight” have plummeted so TLC has decided to shake things up a ittle bit. Yesterday, the network announced that Jon Gosselin will be phased out of the show and beginning on November 2nd, it’ll be renamed “Kate Plus Eight”. TLC President Eileen O’Neill released a statement explaining the change. She said, “Given the recent changes in the family dynamics, it only makes sense for us to refresh and recalibrate the program to keep pace with the family. The family has evolved and we are attempting to evolve with it.” The focus of the show will now shift to following Kate’s new life as a single mother. Although Jon will no longer be a regular part of the show, he will still make occasional appearances. TLC has also confirmed that they’re developing an additional show with Kate. There aren’t any details yet, just that it could premiere sometime next year. Neither Jon nor Kate have commented on this, but it sounds like Jon will be relieved. A source tells E! Online that Jon is, “fed up” with the show, and has been trying to get out of his contract all summer. The source adds that Jon is ticked off at TLC for, “exploiting his family” and would like to, “never have to do that show again.” I’m assuming that the “exploitation” is referring to how they handled his split with Kate, because up until then he didn’t seem to have a problem being on TV and cashing checks from TLC. In conveniently related news, Jon will be on “Larry King Live” tomorrow night. Maybe he’ll talk about how he’s filed paperwork to “put the brakes” on his divorce, or at least stall dissolution of his marriage by 90 days. He wants to meet with Kate to determine the future course of the family. He hopes to show the court he’s a good father to his 8 children.
Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom may not be legally married yet in the Big Fat Rumor of the Day and won’t be until their prenup is hashed out. Supposedly, lawyers for both sides are already at each other’s throats over the terms of the agreement. The word is that E! wanted the wedding to take place by Sunday so they could film it for Khloe and Kourtney’s reality show. But Lamar’s people weren’t going to let an actual, legal marriage take place until the prenup was signed. They didn’t have time to work one out before Sunday, so they threw together a fake wedding. Technically, it still is just speculation. There’s no official confirmation of any of it. Not surprisingly, Khloe and Lamar say they are married. During a Lakers press conference yesterday, Lamar said, “It was real. Anybody that was there will tell you that it was a beautiful event and it was real.” Meanwhile, both Khloe and Lamar’s reps say the marriage was legal and binding. E! announced that the wedding will not air on Khloe’s new reality show, “Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami”. It’ll air on her old reality show, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”. Mark your calendar, it goes down Sunday, November 8th.
Kristin Cavallari and John Mayer recently denied rumors that they were in a “friends-with-benefits” relationship. But Kristin now says John tried to get her into bed and she denied him. Kristin says she only met John briefly, and he asked her out. But she says, “I just feel like I don’t need to be another notch on his belt.” Although she added, “He’s a really nice guy.”
“Dancing with the Stars” professional dancer Karina Smirnoff’s new Fancast blog entry reveals that a romance may be developing on the set. Her partner, Aaron Carter, confesses he has a crush on another pro, Chelsie Hightower. He hopes she doesn’t already have a boyfriend. Kathy Ireland and Debi Mazar were the bottom two on “Dancing With the Stars.” When all was said and done, it was Kathy Ireland going home.
