Brittany Murphy passed away Sunday morning at the young age of 32. She had been taking prescription meds for flu-like symptoms for several days. We understand Brittany began vomiting early Sunday morning and told family members she was feeling very ill. Law enforcement sources say Brittany collapsed in the bathroom and somehow ended up in the shower and that she was discovered there by her own mother. There was also a significant amount of vomit in the immediate area. The paramedics declared Murphy had gone into full cardiac arrest upon their arrival and immediately administered CPR at the scene and continued to try and revive Brittany in the ambulance. She was announced dead on arrival when she arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Various prescriptions were found in the home — written for Brittany Murphy, husband Simon Monjack, and Brittany’s mom. One source says, “There were a lot … a lot of prescriptions in the house.” Authorities did not find illegal drugs in the house, but Murphy was definitely taking various prescription meds. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office is expected to take Murphy’s body into custody later today and begin the autopsy and investigation of her death. But not if her husband can help it! Reports say Simon strongly opposes the coroner’s office’s decision to perform an autopsy on Brittany. But ultimately it’s the Coroner’s call. Story developing…
Looks like Lil’ Wayne will walk away from Saturday’s drug bust in Texas unscathed, at least according to his lawyer. Lil’ Wayne, along with 11 other people, was detained in Falfurrias, Texas by the United States Border Patrol after marijuana was discovered on board his tour bus. The Border Patrol says Wayne and the others were questioned and charges are pending. His lawyer says that while some people did receive citations, Lil’ Wayne was not one of them. Weezy pled guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon stemming from a 2007 traffic stop of his tour bus. He is set to spend a year in jail and will appear for sentencing in February 2010. The Laredo Entertainment Center, where Lil’ Wayne was supposed to perform Saturday night but didn’t, says he will perform there Sunday night to make up for the canceled show. I haven’t heard yet if he showed up or not.
Kevin Jonas and longtime girlfriend Danielle Deleasa were married in a private ceremony at Oheka Castle in Long Island on Saturday night! They made a statement, “We’re so happy that we’re finally married and we were able to share the special moment with family, friends and loved ones.”. Deleasa walked down the aisle in a “strapless tulle and Chantilly lace Vera Wang gown,” and Jonas reportedly could not keep a smile off his face as his bride made her way to the alter. Kevin and Danielle recited traditional wedding vows with Joe and Nick standing beside their brother as his best men. The wedding was originally threatened by the winter weather taking the East Coast by storm, but guests, including Demi Lovato enjoyed the wedding and reception from under heated tents dressed up to look like a “winter wonderland.” And we’re sure the happy couple had tons of fun on their wedding night as well!
Jon and Kate Gosselin’s divorce is a done deal. The judge signed the final divorce decree Friday. Kate will continue to live with her children in their home. Jon must return $235,000 taken from their joint account. He’s also forbidden by his TLC contract to do paid gigs. I’ve heard in some reports that Jon will have to pay child support in the amount of five figures!
LeAnn Rimes’ husband Deane Sheremet has officially filed for divorce. The couple were married in February 2002 and have no children together. The filing cites “irreconcilable differences.” LeAnn and actor Eddie Cibrian have been dating for a few months.
Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles, has filed for divorce from Mathew Knowles. A statement provided to the media noted the split is amicable, but in documents, it says Tina and Matthew have not. In the documents, it says Tina and Matthew “ceased to live together as husband and wife on or about January 5, 2009″. Back in October, Mathew was hit with a paternity lawsuit by actress Alexsandra Wright — no word if that affected Tina’s decision to pull the plug.
