It seems one high-pitched “American Idol” favorite is not who she appears to be — at least when it comes to her accent — because Nicci Nix has been on all sorts of reality shows before with a completely different voice. Remember her on American Idol Tuesday night? Nicci has appeared on at least 4 other reality shows before she got to “Idol” – including “Fear Factor”, “Next”, “Making the Band” and “Date My Mom.” When Nix appeared on “Fear Factor”, not only did she go by another name (Nicci Palmeri) but she claimed to be from California and there was no accent at all! The accent was also MIA when she appeared on “Making the Band” plus her voice sounded deeper back then too. But now, Nix’s “accent” has helped her through to the Hollywood round on “Idol” so I can’t help but wonder what she’ll sound like when she gets there.

The Los Angeles Coroner’s office announced yesterday that Brittany Murphy’s death was caused by a combination of pneumonia and prescription drugs. Pneumonia was the primary cause while multiple-drug intoxication and iron-deficiency anemia were secondary factors. Her death was ruled accidental. The coroner’s office has actually returned to Brittany’s home to get a better handle on what drugs she was taking. They’re also questioning Brittany’s mother and her husband, Simon Monjack, again. One thing they’d like to know is why there’s no record of Brittany seeing a doctor in the months before her death, despite her condition. Brittany’s husband told “People” that he was, “ridiculously upset” after hearing the coroner’s statement, “I expected the cause of death to be her heart.” He added that she didn’t seem that sick the day she died.

The coroner’s report on Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson is in and it turns out she died because she simply wasn’t taking care of her diabetes. The official cause of death was listed as “diabetic ketoacidosis” which is another way of saying “lack of insulin”. The condition can lead to a diabetic coma and Casey had suffered a few of those before she died. Apparently, Casey wasn’t taking her insulin shots or other medications, she wasn’t exercising and she wasn’t following her prescribed diet.

Nick Jonas and Selena Gomez have reportedly been on two dates this week. The first one was on Monday night, after Nick left the “We Are the World” recording session. They went bowling together. On Tuesday, they went to a restaurant called Philippe in Beverly Hills. Nick and Selena allegedly dated after Nick broke up with Miley Cyrus in 2008.

VH1 has had success with “For the Love of Ray J” so now they are developing a new reality show starring  Ray J and his sister Brandy.  The show, which will be called “Brandy and Ray J:  A Family Business” is scheduled to premiere on April 11th. I suppose the irony in this is that Ray J would have nothing if it weren’t for his sister and now he is helping her getting her own show.

Reese Witherspoon is getting back out there after splitting with actor boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal. She had a date this week with Jim Toth, a handsome agent for Hollywood’s Creative Artists Agency. Onlookers described the pair as “cozy,” and Reese as “flirty.” How sweet!
